| About Us |
The Ocean Corporation: The Ocean Corporation was originally incorporated as a diver training facility in in Houston, Texas, September 1969. |
|
April 1971, the company entered into a joint venture agreement with Oceaneering International, Inc., and expanded the program to include international offshore oilfield diver training. |
March 1972, Ocean Corp bought Oceaneering's interest in the venture and became an independent commercial diver trainer. Later that same year, Ocean Corp developed its Diving Operations Division and began providing specialized inland and nuclear power plant diving services. |
By 1975, we had grown too big for our facilities. In March of that year we moved to 5709 Glenmont in southwest Houston. The newer facility was also larger providing plenty of space for training students and conducting commercial dive operations. |
In December 1987, we relocated from Glenmont to our present campus facilities at 10840 Rockley Road. We now have one of the largest commercial diver training facilities in the world. The 4.2 acre campus has an elaborate dive tank training complex, a permanently installed medical decompression chamber, a portable decompression chamber and a 400-foot rated lock-out diving bell system. Offshore Survival & Safety training and all open water dives are done in Galveston, where we share the Marine Sciences Campus with Texas A&M University. |
The Ocean Corporation is within 300 miles of every major diving and inspection company on the Gulf Coast. Our Houston facilities are often leased to local dive companies for equipment tests and ABS/USCG inspection certification projects. Ocean Corp also offers wet welding and diving seminars for utility and oil industry clients as well as local NAUI, PADI, and YMCA diving groups. |
